Weekly Summary: MAY 5 - MAY 11

"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."
— Maya Angelou

There are likely to be several 'bumps' in the road this week — frustrating challenges and obstacles — both before and after this Tuesday's Taurus New Moon (8:21 PM PDT 18° Taurus). There is still quite a bit of Aries energy in the atmosphere which helps to propel us forward but may also increase our impatience levels. Our wheels may spin if we aren't able to quickly get as much traction as we would like. Nonetheless, the New Moon, which sextiles Saturn, is quite powerfully grounded, suggesting a 'springboard' for future growth. Last month's Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is activated by the New Moon. The Moon conjuncts both Jupiter and Uranus following Tuesday's New Moon and then makes a sextile to Neptune, which is at the last degree of Pisces. The Moon-Neptune sextile foreshadows the upcoming, highly inspiring and creative Jupiter-Neptune sextile, which completes near the end of the month (May 23rd). Before the day is over on Tuesday, the Moon moves into Gemini to make a trine to Pluto. In essence, we get a remarkable creative 'jolt' from Tuesday's developments, propelling us forward with new strength and determination. The developments over the course of this new lunar cycle may bring some surprises but will be tangible and well-grounded. The support that is offered is unmistakable. Of course, any progress will still require plenty of 'heavy lifting'. Mercury returns to conjunct Chiron just before the New Moon, stirring significant idealistic intentions and producing a strong imperative to prove the value and importance of that idealism. Our connections to others are tested significantly as we begin to work with the new initiatives of the New Moon. Even though independence is paramount, we'll face extra challenges and struggles if we cut ourselves off from the input of others. The developing creative inspiration needs collaborative interaction in order to be fully realized. Our intuition may be telling us that there is a breakthrough 'just around the corner' but we still need to pay attention to how we lay the groundwork — make the necessary connections in order to be prepared. The Sun will follow the Moon to conjunct Uranus and Jupiter next week. This week's 'creative tension' will produce breakthroughs next week. Even if we can't quite see how things will 'break loose' next week, we need to stay focused, pay attention, and 'watch the road'.

There is a surge of energy and enthusiasm on Sunday but distractions creep up on us. We may disregard information that will later prove to be important. Our 'wheels spin' on Monday but we don't get far. There are some hurdles to overcome before we can understand how to direct our energy. Tuesday's New Moon offers a powerful springboard for future growth. We are looking for ways to prove the value of our idealism in tangible, material ways. We get another boost of energy and enthusiasm on Wednesday that is better grounded than before. We need to find ways to collaborate and interact with others in order to make the most of the energy. Determination is strong on Thursday but it isn't easy to maintain a steady sense of direction. It is important to 'prepare the ground' for future progress. Our connections to others are tested on Friday. We may feel fearful or suspicious. Frustrations reach a peak at midday on Saturday. Some will withdraw while others find ways to use the energy more effectively to move forward.

Sunday May 05, 2024

We are feeling quite a surge of energy and initiative today. Nonetheless, distractions seem to creep up on us. It may be difficult to understand any warning or message that comes to us. We may be inclined to disregard information that might later prove important. Independence is paramount. For the most part, we are inclined to do things our own way for our own purposes. Although we may be getting good information and advice from those around us, it isn't easy to incorporate input. Ultimately, we aren't likely to make as much progress today as we would like. Tuesday's Taurus New Moon (8:21 PM PDT 18° Taurus) will help to stabilize and direct the initiatives that we're trying to pursue today. The Moon goes VOC after conjuncting Mercury late this evening (10:56 PM PDT) and won't arrive in Taurus until tomorrow afternoon.

Monday May 06, 2024

The Moon is VOC until 2:41 PM PDT today, suggesting that 'wheels spin' but we don't get far. Once in Taurus, we begin to gain significant traction The Moon squares Pluto around 6 PM PDT, suggesting some kind of intense hurdle to overcome in order to understand how to best direct our energy. Mercury returns to make a third conjunction with Chiron today which stirs our minds with some significant idealistic intentions. This third conjunction is the most grounded and feeds some especially grounded initiatives that can begin to 'grow' under tomorrow's Taurus New Moon (8:21 PM PDT 18° Taurus).

Tuesday May 07, 2024

The Moon conjuncts Venus and sextiles Saturn ahead of this evening's Taurus New Moon (8:21 PM PDT 18° Taurus), suggesting a powerfully grounded 'springboard' for future growth. The swirls of idealism and initiative that have been coming into our consciousness for the last month or two finally gets a significant boost of grounded energy. The New Moon activates last month's Jupiter-Uranus conjunction with both energy and focus. This is not to suggest that there are not still hurdles to overcome. There is plenty of 'heavy lifting' to be done to actually move forward from here. Nonetheless, the support is unmistakable. The New Moon makes an important sextile to Saturn, which adds an extra layer of incentive to make the effort required to actually succeed in whatever initiatives hold our focus today. There is an underlying imperative to prove the value of our idealism in tangible, material ways.

Wednesday May 08, 2024

The Moon's conjunctions with Uranus and Jupiter today provide a significant boost of energy and enthusiasm to yesterday's Taurus New Moon (8:21 PM PDT 18° Taurus). The opportunities may seem so vast that we struggle to establish a clear direction. As well, we may begin to feel the effects of the forming Jupiter-Neptune sextile. Although that connection will not complete until May 23rd, the Moon's conjunction with Jupiter is followed up by a sextile to Neptune this afternoon, foreshadowing that upcoming influence. The creative 'jolt' is extraordinary but we will need to find ways to collaborate and interact with others in order to make the most of this energy. The Moon goes briefly VOC this afternoon from 2:55 PM PDT until 4:20 PM PDT. Once in Gemini, the Moon's trine to Pluto 'ups the stakes' and intensifies the creative imperatives.

Thursday May 09, 2024

We may find ourselves losing our sense of direction today, even though determination remains strong. The confidence that we feel is strong and deep although it may seem to dwindle as we move through the day ahead of this evening's Moon-Saturn square. There are, however, opportunities to transcend any temporary doubts if we can stay focused on the 'bigger picture'. Even if today's developments seem minimal, there are important elements that will break through in the next few days, once the Sun conjuncts Uranus next Monday. With some degree of foresight, we should be able to anticipate next week's shifts from today's vantage point and 'prepare the ground' for whatever developments we encounter.

Friday May 10, 2024

To some degree, the strength of our connections with others is tested today. Creativity and energy continues to be strong, but we may find ourselves beset by irrational fears or suspicions. This is a temporary situation but we should tread quite carefully. We're prone to frustration when we can't clearly articulate our intuitive vision well enough to bring others along with us. The energy could quickly get us in over our heads if we push too hard to find agreement or understanding. We may begin to believe that we need to cut ties and 'go it alone' — but the situation may not be as serious as it seems today. We'll do better to take a step back and look for new opportunities or new approaches in order to communicate our ideas more effectively. The Moon is briefly VOC from 6:48 PM PDT until 8:12 PM PDT.

Saturday May 11, 2024

The Cancer Moon squares Mars just before noon today, when frustrations may come to a peak before subsiding. Some may pull back and 'go back to their corner' but others are encouraged to move beyond the tension and make more productive use of today's energy. Intuition is whispering that things are about to 'break loose' and we'll do better to prepare the ground for the future rather than struggle with some temporary tensions that will soon be irrelevant. Even if we can't really put our finger on just exactly what is coming, the feeling that we need to pay attention and 'watch the road' is very prevalent today.

Today is Tuesday May 14, 2024

Weekly Summary: MAY 12 - MAY 18

"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly."
— Richard Bach

We are still operating in the wake of February's Chiron/North Node conjunction, when we were challenged to better understand our unique individuality and the message that we are here to share with the world at large. We have arrived at the place this week where we must begin to put our unique perspective into action while continuing to integrate the new streams of information and insights that are flowing faster and faster all around us. With Mercury now direct and the Sun moving out of the Taurus New Moon to make conjunctions with Uranus and Jupiter, we are beginning to take a more 'direct' look at the new atmosphere developing out of last month's exciting and innovative Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. There are especially significant bits of information surfacing which challenge many structural elements of our beliefs. Mercury arrives in Taurus on Wednesday after emerging from the retrograde shadow at the beginning of the week. We begin to find entirely new ideas and new information though sudden flashes of insight, especially under Monday's Sun-Uranus conjunction. There are glimpses of possible new perspectives which may require us to take extra time to 'pause and consider'. We reach the critical 1st quarter phase of the current lunar cycle on Wednesday, suggesting significant activity and tangible developments. We may find that we need to adjust our perspective quite a bit in order to account for this entirely new environment. This is no small challenge! We are essentially forced to review our entire belief structure in order to understand and integrate what we are seeing. With Mercury in Taurus, our investigative approach becomes increasingly purposeful and methodical — especially so under the Virgo Moon on Wednesday and Thursday. Mercury forms a square to Pluto on Thursday, pointing to some degree of obsession, increasing pressure, and a strong desire to come to definitive conclusions. By the time the Sun conjuncts Jupiter on Saturday, the determined search for 'truth' intensifies even further. The search for truth becomes a mission. We are increasingly determined to understand our destiny based upon what we see unfolding before us. Also on Saturday, Venus, ruling a Libra Moon, conjuncts Uranus. We are determined to come to our own independent conclusions and won't find any satisfaction with explanations, solutions, or conclusions that are provided to us by anyone else. The shape, power, and importance of belief — whether we take those beliefs from others or come to our own conclusions — is front and center this week. What we believe determines so much more than we may recognize or acknowledge — how we behave, how we associate and more broadly, how we interact within the society and culture that surrounds us. The stakes of this week's examination of our beliefs are far higher than we may comprehend.

Our intuition is quite productive on Sunday and our confidence is well-grounded. There is quite a bit of new information to sort through. Flashes of insight come in unpredictable waves on Monday. Our confidence builds throughout the day, intensifying our commitment to follow up on the new clues we are finding. Clarity may or may not be comfortable on Tuesday. We may have some challenging interactions with others if we find that our clarity produces discomfort. Our egos may seem to be on the line on Wednesday, increasing our determination. We begin to take a much more methodical approach by the end of the day. Our intellect is looking for a way to put our insights into some kind of understandable order on Thursday. We undertake a painstaking process of rebuilding our beliefs based upon new information. We begin to feel a new sense of direction and purpose on Friday. As we attempt to anchor our beliefs on some sense of order, we may be vulnerable to some kind of self-deception. Increased courage and independence helps us to step away from self-deception on Saturday. Our search for truth is guided by an independent sense of mission and destiny.

Sunday May 12, 2024

Our confidence is fairly well grounded today, which helps us to take advantage of the Moon's sextiles to Jupiter and Uranus. Intuition is extraordinarily productive ahead of tomorrow morning's Sun-Uranus conjunction, suggesting that the insights that we find today will be developed and expanded over the next few days. The Moon squares Mercury this evening (9:56 PM PDT) as Mercury emerges from the shadow of the last retrograde period. We are likely to find numerous elements to sort through and understand today. There are raw materials available today that will offer a number of important opportunities throughout the week.

Monday May 13, 2024

The Moon arrives in Leo early this morning (3:35 AM PDT), not long after the Sun completes the conjunction to Uranus. The flashes of insight come in unpredictable waves. We may spend a great deal of time today working to better understand the glimpses of new information that are popping up. The Moon's early morning opposition to Pluto intensifies the commitment that is inspired by a Venus-Saturn sextile. There is plenty of confidence available here, which we will need in order to follow up on the clues that are becoming visible. The Moon heads towards a trine to Mars, which finally completes just before midnight tonight. As our confidence builds more throughout the day, the pace of insights — pulling many disparate pieces together — increases and produces a great deal of excitement.

Tuesday May 14, 2024

We find a great deal of clarity today, which may or may not be welcome, depending on what it is that we're seeing in front of us. We're beginning to pull together a great deal of new information, some of which may be quite uncomfortable. The Moon's square to Venus could bring some interactions that relate to any discomfort but a followup Moon-Chiron trine this evening allows some resolution and relief of that discomfort. Nonetheless, it is becoming apparent that adjustment is required — possibly even some changes to our basic beliefs — in order to integrate the new information and insight that is becoming impossible to sidestep or disregard. Some are feeling vindicated while others may feel quite let down.

Wednesday May 15, 2024

The early part of the day may have us feeling quite stuck, obsessed, or struggling to find a theme or 'thread' to follow that might take us in the right direction. We reach the 1st quarter phase of the powerful Taurus lunar cycle. Our egos may actually seem to be on the line, feeding our determination. The Moon is briefly VOC midday, from 9:40 AM PDT until arriving in Virgo at 2:32 PM PDT. Mercury arrives in Taurus today, ruling this afternoon's Virgo Moon, offering a far more methodical approach to understanding the new information that is being revealed. It is reasonable to expect that we will have developed an entirely new 'belief structure' by the time the Sun reaches a conjunction with Jupiter on Saturday.

Thursday May 16, 2024

Mercury heads into a square with Pluto today, which will complete just after midnight tonight. Our intellect is challenged to find some order as well as develop a methodical approach to the insights we have garnered this week. This is a painstaking process of rebuilding a broad new understanding of exactly where we are and what we need to do next. This is quite an activating environment where we may find some clarity. However, there is also some tendency to move away from clarity towards self-deception in an attempt to 'anchor' a coherent set of new insights and beliefs.

Friday May 17, 2024

We seem to pick up a more reliable sense of direction today and move away from any tendency towards self-deception. The Moon trines Venus early this afternoon as Venus heads towards tomorrow's Venus-Uranus conjunction. We find extra courage to move away from yesterday's self-deception and embrace the freedom that comes from knowing the truth. Our individual perspective and insight is paramount. We aren't terribly concerned about what others may think of us. We're only concerned with finding 'truth'. Essentially, this environment is infused with a sense of purpose and 'mission' — seeking better understanding of the destiny that is unfolding before us.

Saturday May 18, 2024

Today's Libra Moon intensifies the Venus-Uranus conjunction, which in turn sets the tone for the Sun-Jupiter conjunction. Even more intensification is provided by the Moon's trine to Pluto. There is a determined effort to come to some kind of conclusion based upon our own individual perspective and insights. We're not inclined to adopt the conclusions that any one else is giving us — we'll make up our own mind, "thank you very much!" This independence is not likely to seem especially aggressive or hostile — just determined. Of course, too much isolation may open the door to the return of self-deception. Nonetheless, we're definitely drawn towards truth and may find ourselves under special protection to keep us from veering too far off course.

Weekly Summary: MAY 19 - MAY 25

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
— Henry David Thoreau

Both the Sun and Venus arrive in Gemini this week, easing the compression of the Aries/Taurus focus that has been dominant over the last few months. To some extent, this is likely to feel as though things are lightening up. Nonetheless, by the time we reach the Sagittarius Full Moon (6:52 AM PDT 2° Sagittarius/Gemini) on Thursday, we come into a rather chaotic atmosphere where things seem to need to fall apart before they can come back together in the 'right' way. In Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, the Full Moon puts our focus on 'Truth' and our 'Belief Structures''Belief Structures' which are the filters through which we view 'Truth'. Ultimately, the Full Moon brings optimistic breakthroughs in our understanding and perspective on 'Truth', even though the process may seem quite 'messy' while we're moving through it. The Sun trines Pluto and the Moon sextiles Pluto at the Full Moon. We are coming to the completion of a significant rebuilding of our sense of individual purpose, a , transformative process that began in February with the Chiron/North Node conjunction. That conjunction spurred us to find resolutions to our self-doubts and insecurities and stabilize our self-confidence. Last month's retrograde Mercury in Aries, kept us focused on the search for resolutions. The transformations that are offered by Pluto in connection with the Full Moon help us to recognize important opportunities for such resolutions. Venus makes a conjunction to Jupiter on the last degree of Taurus just before the Full Moon. That conjunction sextiles Neptune (on the last degree of Pisces). The Venus-Jupiter conjunction helps us to 'firm up' our beliefs — both about ourselves as well as the world around us. The conjunction completes in a sextile to Neptune, offering inspiration and the willingness to share our insights with others. This is a highly optimistic and spiritually enlightened environment. However, we may still need to deal with residual insecurities and suspicions, possibly stirred by expectations that lead us to misunderstand how the breakthroughs are widening our opportunities. If we are able to use Neptune's power of transcendence to help us avoid taking ourselves too seriously, we can begin to grasp the value of deepening our connections to those around us. Mars will conjunct Chiron in Aries next week, essentially capping off the process that has encouraged us to express our individuality with confidence and better understand how we fit in to the world around us. This week offers waves of new insights that broaden our perspective and offer us exciting new opportunities.

We may find ourselves quite frustrated for most of the day on Sunday. Dead-ends and conflicts seem to slow us down but we do have an opportunity to expand our perspective enough to let go of needless disputes. The atmosphere is rather unstable on Monday. The energy swings unpredictably from wild highs to very dark lows. We may feel some tension on Tuesday. However, if we can stay focused and determined in our pursuits, we should find that we have made a great deal of rewarding progress. We may feel quite overwhelmed on Wednesday. Both courage and humility are needed in an atmosphere where awareness is expanding rapidly. Although there may be quite a chaotic feeling on Thursday, it isn't as threatening as it may seem. Things seem to need to fall apart completely before they can come back together correctly. We may struggle with some self-doubt during the early part of the day on Friday. Once we stop taking ourselves too seriously, we will feel a profound shift in our perspective. There is a rather troubling 'tone' set early in the day on Saturday. It is important to try to lighten the mood enough to unwind attempts at control and manipulation.

Sunday May 19, 2024

The Moon goes VOC this morning after opposing Mars on the 'nodal axis point' at 8:48 AM. The Moon won't arrive in Scorpio until tomorrow afternoon. This setup may feel quite frustrating, full of dead-ends and conflicts. Nonetheless, there are plenty of opportunities to expand our perspective and let go of needless disputes that don't really get at the root of why we're actually frustrated. In truth, there are far fewer complications than we're prone to seeing from today's vantage point. In this environment, we're better off to let the Libra Moon's desire to 'follow protocol' keep us balanced, while sidestepping (for the moment) any controversies that surface.

Monday May 20, 2024

It isn't easy to cope with today's unstable atmosphere. The Sun arrives in Gemini early this morning (5:59 AM PDT) and begins to form a trine with Pluto which will complete on Wednesday, ahead of Thursday morning's Sagittarius Full Moon (6:52 AM PDT 2° Sagittarius/Gemini). The Moon remains VOC until arriving in Scorpio this afternoon at 3:33 PM PDT. The Moon will square Pluto this evening (by 7:33 PM PDT). Between the Sun's forming trine to Pluto and the Moon's square to Pluto, we're likely to see some extremely unstable energy — wild highs and very dark lows — as we struggle to make sense of what is swirling around us. It is important to stay alert and avoid making too much out of any one particular development.

Tuesday May 21, 2024

We're likely to feel quite a bit of tension today with few clear signals about what to take seriously and what to simply ignore. However, if we can stay focused and determined to move forward, persistence and perseverance is quite well rewarded. We may be tempted to push too hard or manipulate situations in order to gain the 'upper hand'. We'll do much better to look for ways to stay in harmony with the environment — 'go with the flow' — but not give up. Humility is the key to avoiding some very unnecessary conflicts here. Any attempts at manipulation are most likely a response to self-doubts or failing confidence. We're likely to have a clearer perspective tomorrow if we are able to stay calm today.

Wednesday May 22, 2024

The Sun completes a trine to Pluto today, ahead of tomorrow morning's Sagittarius Full Moon (6:52 AM PDT 2° Sagittarius/Gemini). We may find ourselves overwhelmed by today's developments. Both courage and humility are needed in order to successfully navigate this atmosphere where awareness in expanding extremely quickly. Venus is moving into a potent conjunction with Jupiter on the last degree of Venus-ruled Taurus. We are prone to trying to say that we know more than we actually know — 'strutting our stuff' boldly but quite unsteady beneath the surface. There is some significant 'game playing' going on here. The questions being raised are asking us to decide whether we should 'bluff' or 'fold'.

Thursday May 23, 2024

The chaos associated with today's Sagittarius Full Moon (6:52 AM PDT 2° Sagittarius/Gemini) is not nearly as threatening as it may feel for much of the day today. There are likely to be rather surprising shifts and things may sometimes seem to be falling apart. However, there are also plenty of indications that things come together in remarkably beneficial ways — right after they fall apart. Mars is approaching a conjunction with Chiron which will complete next week. We are nearing the end of a period that has had us focused intently on individuality and our personal 'sense of purpose'. There are opportunities, under today's Full Moon, to begin to tie up loose ends and 'put a bow on top' in the context of our individual self-expression. Expectations may be the biggest stumbling block in this environment, suggesting mixed-feelings even surrounding our personal success.

Friday May 24, 2024

The Moon squares Saturn this morning but then goes on to trine Mars and Chiron. We may begin the day struggling with some self-doubts but find our way through it by the end of the day. Venus arrived in Gemini yesterday in the midst of the swirl of chaos under the Full Moon. This seems to have helped us to lighten up. The Moon-Mars and Moon-Chiron trines encourage us to stop taking ourselves too seriously and get on with the 'business of being ourselves'. This actually offers us a profound shift in our perspective and helps us to understand how to let go of beliefs and attitudes that have been holding us back and keeping us from seeing 'the Big Picture' or listening to our inner voice.

Saturday May 25, 2024

The Moon's early morning Venus-Pluto square followed by a Moon-Neptune square at 7:46 AM PDT may set a rather troubling tone for the rest of the day today. The Moon arrives in Capricorn by 8:27 AM PDT and makes uncomfortable quincunxes to the Sun and Venus as they begin to form a conjunction. The challenge is to keep the tone light enough to unwind a number of potentially aggressive attempts to maintain some kind of control. There is a need to transcend insecurity and forge deeper connections with those around us. Although the atmosphere may have us feeling 'stirred up', we need to take time to listen and avoid sharp, heavy-handed responses which will only encourage aggressive responses. We are challenged to keep our heads high and keep our 'eye on the prize', setting aside today's surface insecurity and simply 'trust the process'.
